Музеи Вашингтона
Побывав в очередной раз в Вашингтоне (отдых -  одно из лучших занятий для AuPair), я решила описать места, которые я посетила и тем самым облегчить кому-нибудь задачу «идти или не идти?», «что лучше?», «смогу ли я туда попасть?». Так что вы сможете выбрать действительно то, что вас интересует!!! В первую очередь вам понадобиться карта метро и карта города, которую вы сможете взять бесплатно в таких местах, какD.C. Visitor Information Center, в музеях и т.п..

Самый лучший вариант для начала путешествия по музеям – выйти на станции Smithsonian,  где расположены практически все музеи.
Вход во все музеи бесплатный!

National museum of American History

 

The original collection can be traced back to some object that  were transferred from US. Patent office to the Smithsonian . Uhen the Philadelphia Centennial Expositional closed in 1876 after the nation's 100th birthday, may of the artifacts displayed there were moved to the US . National Museum - now the Arts and Industries Building . Open in 1964 as the National Museum of History and Technology, today the National Museum of American History, houses those collections and more.

National museum of Natural History

The wonders of the natural world await you beneath the dome of this classical building,  цершср has recently been undergoing extensive renovation. This museum complex  holds more than 25 million specimen, some of which are brand – new and some of which where collected almost 200 years ago during early voyages and explorations of the world. The vast exhibition halls focus on the Earth and its evolution into the world in which we live today, with wondrous displays of animals, plants, fossils, rocks, minerals and cultural artifacts.

Total area of the museum: more then 18 football fields!!

Getting started…

 When you arrive, it’s good idea to estimate how much time you have and plan you visit. If you want to see am IMAX movie, buy your tickets in advance and than arrange you schedule around the show time. On the ground floor you will find previews of the main exhibitions, the food court, two Museum Stores, visitor services and a wonderful bird exhibition. Au Pair

  United States Holocaust memorial museum. 

 The United States Holocaust memorial museum pawerful exhibitions and extraordinary architecture have earned worldwide acclaim. Through an astonishing collection of artifacts, films, documents, photos and oral histories, the museum tell the full story of the Holocaust from 1933 to 1945.
Jews were the primary victims – sex million were murdered, Roma (Gypsies) people with disabilities, and Poles also were targeted for destruction or decimation for racial, ethnic or national reasons.

Мнение:  Этот музей интересен тем, что ты сможешь узнать, как люди жили в войну, какие ужасные вещи творились в то время. И возможно, после этого визита, у кого-то измениться мировоззрение.

 National Air and Space museum  

 For more than 29 years, this museum has been a must see for visitors to Washington , perhaps, perhaps because it is so much fun for kids and adults alike. The 23 galleries here tell the awe-inspiring story of flight from the first balloons, to the sands of kitty Hawk, to our current exploration of space. It is the mast-visited  must-visited museum in the world.  аэрокосмический музей


 Getting started… 
If you plan on splitting your day between the two sites, make sure you check the shuttle bus schedules early. If you want to see and IMAX movies get your tickets at the box office when you arrive, because show often sell out early.

National Museum of the American Indian 

   The National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall will open on September 21, 2004, and will be home to one of the largest and most diverse collections of Indian art and art-facts in the world. The 250’000 – square-foot  museum showcases objects including bed work, pottery, textiles, paintings, sculptures and more.

Getting started… 

I recommend you begin your visit on the fourth floor with the Lelawi Theater, and watch the museum’s introductory film, Who we are. Then, make your way through the exhibitions on the fourth and third floors.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day except December 25. Passes  are required, and are available at no charge at the east entrance to the museum.
